It pours bright brass, crystal clear with champagne carbonation and a shaving cream head. Wobbly rings of lacing. It smells of pungent Euro hops right away. Dough and white pepper, sweet floral notes, grass, a hint of sulfur. The flavor follows on the nose's tail. Baguette crust, grassy-flowery hops, clean and easy drinking with a dry, crisp finish. This is a very quaffable, quenching beer that has that lovely characteristic that great lagers have of being hefty in a vague way but also completely unobtrusive, complex but simple.
This is a superb beer and I'm now officially pissed I only bought one what with the high cost of COVIDelivery beers.
It is a simple, well-made lager with a nice malt and hop character that melds well and doesn't overwhelm. There is a touch of something that I have gotten a few times in Czech-style lagers that I've never been 100% sure on. When it has been strong enough to make me enjoy the beer less I've wondered if it was acetyldehyde, but in beers like this I think it must be a particular character in the particular hops used. I have no proof either way and limited info to go on. It is definitely present in this beer and is hard for me to explain. A bright green fruitiness (restrained here) with some herbal-floral character. Maybe Czech saaz? Maybe a whisp acetyldehyde? No idea. Either way, it didn't take away here so I'm not complaining. Dee-licious!
