Astringently bitter taste, floral smelling hops, and redish tinge amber. Leaf dry hops. Drinkable and a palate cleaner. More bitter than sweet, there is some carmel in there. Drying aftertaste, medium mouthfeel. Its an English ESB despite IBU not being all thet great..

Served as a clear medium valued amber hue with a thin white head that leaves speckled lacing. Slight malt on the nose, more prominent flowery hops. Caramel malt to start with in the flavour, balanced out with a pleasant flowery hop finish. Full resiny, oily mouthfeel from the hops, which would explain the lack of head retention. Very satisfying, it has a beautiful hop profile, and has become my new session ale at the Wildwood. I remember having a casked version of this before it was put on the menu as a full production offering or knew what they were going to call it, and was duly impressed even then. Apart from the stout, the Red is my favorite at the Wildwood.

Not sure if this replaces another recipe or is a new one to WildWood. Simply called "Red", is descibed on the menu "Malty undertones balance this briskly hopped English style bitter. Delicate carbonation and an aromatic finish create this easy drinking ale".
Served in a pint glass, this is true to its name - deep amber red in color, with a small foamy cap, that left nice thin lace lines down my glass. Sweet malt aroma with some light piney-hops. Sweet malt taste that is well balanced in the middle by the hoppy flavor. Soft pinl graipfruit flavor and aroma throughout. Bitter finish, but not so much that it leaves a sour aftertaste like some bitters.
