This came to my table a hazy copper colour with a soapy ring that quickly disappeared. It's cask-conditioned, so I was expecting the carbonation to be on the low side.

The aroma was fairly unremarkable, caramel malt and resiny hops with a bit of pine. The flavour was a well-balanced and session-worthy blend of the same malt and hop notes. It was nothing to write home about, but pleasant. Medium bodied with a dry finish.

Part of the new line-up at the Wildwood, not the most original or appealing of names for this pale ale, but I suppose it fits loosely with their Calgary Flames/hockey theme.

Served in a tall straight glass (I almost thought it was a Collins glass at first), a cloudy marmalade hue in appearance, with a small sticky head which left a lot of lacing. Intense citrus and grapefruit rind on the nose, with light bready malt present a few steps behind. Assertive hops right from the beginning in the flavour, lemony grapefruit all the way through, although mellowing out towards the finish where it is joined by a light biscuity malt. The mouthfeel is on the light side but manages to hold its own all the same. This is a great session ale, one that I'll be ordering the next time I go back.
