Poured a black body with tan head and lace down the glass. More of a roasted even burnt coffee malt aroma than anything sweet or lactic. The beer has a medium body with coffee and sweet notes but is more harsh than sweet as the coffee and roasted malts overpower everything and the beer is passable but not enjoyable to me.

On tap:
Nice top hat of tan foam sat atop my beer. After a few sips, gravy lacing remained, as did a nice full coverage of the surface.
Nose is a mix of coffee and cigarettes, the latter from the charred notes, it seems. In quicker whiffs, there's a weak impression of coffee, but deeper whiffs are more bitter char with a coffee backing.
Taste contains char as well, paired with deep roast coffee initially. The smokiness eventually wins the opening, just in time to be joined by a little milk stout sweet tang. As the beer warms, the sweet stout aspects come out more, but the bitter char continues to overwhelm the coffee. Full flavored with a medium body.
If the heavy roasted notes gave a little more way to coffee, this would get a little more love from me.
