Turmbräu at Romantik Hotel Markusturm "Weizen"
on tap at the brewery on 18 September 2017
Notes: A very hazy, not quite cloudy, gold and brass colored body is capped by a full head of white. Given the style both the head retention and lacing could be better, but they're both good. The aroma displays green banana, green apple, wheat, and light phenols. The flavor follows with some additional red apple and raisin. A low level bitterness leaves some sweetness but that's balanced by a subtle tartness. It's light-medium in body with a lightly crisp, standard carbonation. Given the lighter body I can see why it's not more carbonated, and thus why the head doesn't hold as well. An interesting, slightly unusual take on the style.
