This review is for the winter beer. It’s not listed on the site but I thought I would review it. Out of the can,. $.39 euro for a can at Penny in Hessen. Not a bad deal. High alcoholic taste and finish. Hints of nutmeg and winter spices. Pour is a dark golden color. Really, for the price, it’s not bad.

Turmbräu at Romantik Hotel Markusturm "Dunkel"
on tap at the brewery on 18 September 2017
Notes: Clear dark mahogany body with orange highlights beneath a short head of khaki colored foam. Average head retention and very good lacing. Mild aroma of dark malts. The flavor is surprisingly fruity with some apple, and just a hint of chocolate. A moderate bitterness balances it, and it finishes short and dry. In the mouth it's light-medium in body with a soft, smooth carbonation.

After trying the Helles, I turned my attention to the Turmbräu Dunkles. It, too, was served in a tall, tapered mug, at €2.80 for a 0.3l serving.
This checked in with a deep, dark chestnut color, almost being opaque. It did have a slight bit of haziness, and the head was tan, creamy and short. It lasted as a thin layer, and left decent lacing. Had a lovely roasty, choco nose, like malted milk balls. Medium in body, it had little-to-no roughness on the tongue.
Flavor had some sweetness, like a bit of ovaltine was in there. A bit of cocoa was present, with lightly roasted notes of choco leading the way. Just a smidge of floral hops finished off this easily drinkable Dunkles. Prosit!
