served on nitro, really cool beer, a milk stout but not overly sweet, they also use nibs and milk chocolate in here, the base beer on its own im sure is full of complexities and deliciousness, but with the coconut added in too for this special edition, it really pops off. matte deep brown in the glass, nice nitro cascade into a full inch of tan cream head, gorgeous. the nose is a little muted like it always is to me in nitro beers, but the coconut comes first, lightly toasted to me, fleshy and real, with some supporting sweetness and a coffee note to the roast. the flavor is intense, lots going on, i like the bitter from the nibs and the roasted barley balancing out the sweeter lactose, milk chocolate, and coconut, this isnt too desserty nor too sweet to drink a bunch of, and the lactose seems more textural than flavorful, like it helps the body be all rich and smooth without really making it sugary, a nice change of pace from what is common in these styles right now. the coconut is overpowering, and the full spectrum chocolate character is impressive. a little brownie batter thing to this, but its not heavy to drink, and the nitro is the right call, it just glides on the palate. lovely beer, still a tad sweet, but nice execution here. hope to try some other variants of this next time!
