Canned on 10/13/2021. Poured into a pint glass. It pours a deep walnut color - nearly black, with a thick, creamy, light mocha-colored head and thick, clinging lacing. The nose features freshly-brewed coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, and nutty, earthy char. For a Breakfast Stout it's on the bitter side - in a good way - with roasty, burnt coffee and charred nuts balanced by cocoa, vanilla bean, Carapils malt, and oats. The use of roasted barley and Blackprinz malt adds a dry, earthy character that is very appealing. The mouth feel is moderately thick and creamy with lite/moderate carbonation, and it drinks quite easily at 7% ABV. Overall, this is my first Stout from Wilmington Brewing Company and I'm impress by a fine recipe, well-executed. This is a lovely Breakfast Stout.

16 ounce can in a stemless wine glass.
Blackened dark brown liquid with a dark tan thin cap. Some spot and wisp lacing.
Smells like morning brew, coffee, that is. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel.
Rich coffee flavor with a mix of roasted malt and dark chocolate.
Light in body for a stout as it should be, it’s a breakfast drink, after all. The coffee and lactose lighten its feel. Slightly sweet.
Lactose is not a favored ingredient of mine. Still, not bad overall.

On tap it poured black with a thin and quickly fading light brown head. Smells of sweet roasted malt and coffee. Tastes rich and roasty with a lot of coffee and dark chocolate. A bit thin but a really great breakfast stout.

The color is blackish. Think darker than a cola but not jet black. The nose is coffee heavy with mild sweet notes of caramel and chocolate. You will notice viscosity on the pour with decent lacing. The flavor is even more coffee-dominated and comes close to overwhelming the other flavors of rich toffee. The mouthfeel is full body with a texture that is creamy. A bit too coffee heavy for me but overall a solid beer.

Dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Sweet malt taste with a very crisp and carbonated mouthfeel. Coffee notes on the finish.

This stout pours to a thin, brief-lived pebbly tan head on an impenetrably black body; the only highlight is a ruby-litten line at the bottom of the glass. A slight appearance of viscosity is notable on the pour; lacing is fair, consisting of fine-grained, retreating bands. The aroma is moderate in intensity, predominately sweet coffee with cream, backed by hints of chocolate and booze. The flavor is even more coffee-dominated, with the barest hints of chocolate and toffee; the coffee character here is more bitter than the nose would suggest, and has a pleasing depth and richness. The finish has a modest coffee presence, followed by a more assertive bitter coffee linger that sticks around for a few minutes. The mouthfeel is on point for the full body; the texture is a bit better than medium-creamy, and on the peppery side for a stout- the carbonation is just a bit too aggressive. Between the flavor and the relatively low ABV (for an imperial stout), this is definitely a prime breakfast beer. (growler)

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is jet black, with a dark tan halo of head. Nose of coffee, subtle maple, chocolate, and molasses. Flavors are roasted and creamy forward, with coffee, tangy crème, bittersweet chocolate, and earthy notes. Smooth, dry, and mid-bodied, with a coffee and chocolate aftertaste. Smooth, slow, dry finish. Nice.

Dark pour with a rich roasted malty flavor. Almost meaty. Very umami. Coffee addition really comes through in the second half and in the long aftertaste. Pleasantly bitter and measured coffee flavor. Very much a winter sipper
