Served on-draught into a half-litre steinkrug at Bergkirchweih in Erlangen. Reviewed from notes taken Summer 2011.
A: Pours a three finger head of nice cream, decent thickness, and good retention. Body colour isn't visible; I'm drinking from a stein.
Sm: Nutty malts. Grainy. I suspect some munich malts? A light aroma overall.
T: Nutty. Caramelized amber malts. Some cream on the open and a bit less so on the finish. Caramel on the climax. Maybe some chocolate malt. Somewhat complex. Some wheat. I love the nuts and cream. Balanced and pleasant, with a nice chocolatey and toffee-redolent finish.
Mf: Smooth and wet, complementing the flavours of the body. Quite fanciful. A bit buttery, actually.
Dr: Highly priced by current German standards, but delightful overall. A great example of the style from a fairly uncommon brewery. Looking forward to trying more from them.
