On-tap @ KGB-Pivo Festival 2013 (Barcelona). Shaker glass. Very dark amber in color. Beige crown shows fairly good retention in despite of high ABV content. Nice lacing on sides. Crystal & caramel malt aromas, hues of anice, herbs. brown sugar & alcohol. Sweet toasted maltiness at first. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Dense to watery texture. Brown sugar, herbal & chocolated tea-like flavors. ABV is as well felt as well integrated. Harsh & sweet finish. Anice memories on the aftertaste.

Interesting take on a Quad. A bit coarse and assertive but worth the try.
Presentation: 33 cl brown capped bottle. Label design mocking a Warholian theme with the guinea pigs. Side notes with ingredients, style, and brewing facilities. Shows 10.3% Alc. by Vol. with a bottling date of May 30, 2013, and a recommendation to consume it within the following two years. Served in a chalice.
A - Deep ruby/brown pour with some hazy/yeast notes. Moderate head with sparse creamy bubbles, moderate to litter retention
S - Soft nose of dark fruity, touches of sweetness, a bit tamed but pleasing.
T - Fruity notes, honey, with added sweetness complexity around notes of figs, dates and plums. Hefty bitter note emerges in the finish with an herbal hint.
M - Full body with moderate carbonation, it might benefit from a stronger carbonation range next time. Creamy and a bit cloying… Warming... alcohol is still a bit too assertive.
O - It is a nice drinking experience, a bit hefty and rough around the edges…
Notes: …and while not the best offering I’ve had form Yria it is sure stimulating to see these ales emerging in Spain. Also delighted to have the chance to try it. Thanks to Yria/Cervezorama for gifting this ale during my last visit to Madrid.
