Served in a shaker pint.
Ring of tawny foam on delivery from the bar keep. The body is black with some ruddy highlights.
Wow that is sweet! Maple syrup, imitation vanilla, a cherry cordial scent, the booze comes across like nail polish remover.
The palate is not much better, brown sugar, big charred woody note and boozy. The combo is like paint thinner. That cherry is so artificial, like a cordial with vanilla. Way unbalanced and just not good.
Medium light body and slick, sticky, unfortunately. Very sweet feel, sugary.
This Van Houzen offering needed to be barrel aged longer, far too boozy. Not because of the heat, but because the flavor is so hot. And there is something about the cherry flavor that is far too cloying. Unfortunate!
