this is an awesome coffee stout, i think easily the best beer i have had from city star. its got a ton of body, no acidity or bitterness, and drinks a lot like an imperial stout, smooth and rich and mellow, but is only at 6% abv, a pretty cool beer for cold weather sessioning in my opinion. its got a tall tan head on it, great retention, and a nose of fresh brewed coffee. espresso really, as the flavors are deeper and more concentrated. the combination with the roasty malts and the velvety body is just awesome. it coats the palate but isnt sweet, and has a really intense coffee flavor, more so than many others, it goes well beyond an accent flavor role in this beer. little bit of dried fruit in there, plum or cherry, probably from the coffee, and then a mild english type hopping in the finish. i had only one of these (on tap at tap and handle in fort collins), but could have happily made an evening out of crushing them. i didnt feel a lot of caffeine from this, but the pours werent huge either. top notch stuff from city star.
