Vancouver 24/7 2018. 65 cl bottle from High Point on E Hastings Street. Guy with aviator glasses climbing a rope on the label.
Pours clear golden yellow with a big bubbly white head. Settles as a thin layer of foam covering the surface of the beer and clinging to the side of the glass. Very moderate lacing.
Aroma is malty. Sweet pale malts, saltiness, sourish notes. Light spiciness with hints of coriander.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lightly prickly texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers shortly. Finish is semi-dry.
A bit thin but is saved by a notable bitterness.

On tap at Grain, Hyatt Regency, Vancouver.
Dark gold with crusty trailers. 3.75
Honey and a squeeze of lemon. 3.75
Doughy sweetness, some dusty grain, and a whack of citrus. 3.75
Almost medium, round, some chew. 4
Body is right but too dark and far too hoppy for a blonde. As an APA, though, it’s weak, and there’s an unpleasant grittiness in the middle, though I’d probably still kill it in the summer. A gateway beer if I ever saw one.3.75

650ml bomber poured into tulip 5/6/13
A slight haze in a bright golden liquid, I can see bubbles of all sizes but only get a thin film even after a dump down the middle, no lace
S honey and apricot with some cracker and hay, pretty basic but nothing to be ashamed of
T some herbal notes I can't place and reminds me more of a macro lager the a blond ale, needs a little something, more hops perhaps
M the visible bubbles are almost gone but not quite flat, fairly light bodied with a grainy faintly spicy finish
O nothing special but it was easy enough to drink, that being said I doubt I'd buy another bottle
another basic beer from Townsite, nothing to be ashamed of but I doubt many would return for seconds

Poured from a 650ml bottle. Pours an orangey yellow colour. Consider this an entry-level craft beer. The nose offers up light crackery malt notes and a hint of fruit. Nothing terribly inviting, but clean. It's a little more interesting on the palate as you do get a decent little kick of hops from this light-bodied (almost kolsch-like) ale. It's well-carbonated, crisp and drinkable.

A pint at the Underground. Always nice to see a new Canadian brewery's wares available in these here parts.
This beer appears a hazy pale golden blonde hue, with one thick finger of foamy, bubbly, puffy ecru head, which leaves some solid honeycombed ace around the glass as it slowly and evenly subsides.
It smells of bready, somewhat biscuity cereal grains, a sweet apple orchard fruitiness, mild field honey, middling yeast, and some earthy, leafy hops. The taste is grainy, kind of pastry-like malt, a pleasantly muddled sugary drupe fruitiness, more musty honey, and earthy, weakly grassy hops.
The carbonation is quite tame, the body medium-light in weight, and generally quite creamy. It finishes off-dry, the biscuity, bready malt lingering more so than the opposing noble hops.
A tasty, agreeable blonde ale, with a decent hop schedule, unusual for the base style, and sort of a rare species at this admittedly advanced time. This seems to be a sign of things to come, which I can only welcome with broadly open taste buds.

A: Minimal white head over straw coloured liquid with excellent clarity and minimal carbonation.
S: Yeast, sweetness and the slight smell of grass and earth of noble hops.
T: Not exactly tightly constructed: flavours of barley that tastes like sweet corn, as well as yeast and grassy and earthy hops go off in different directions leaving a less than pleasant aftertaste.
M: Syrupy medium viscosity and low carbonation. Somewhat dry.
O: A gift from my father when he visited Powell River, its doubtful that I would revisit this one again due to its less than favourable drinkability.

Had the beer on tap at Biercraft on Cambie. This is a creamy ( almost nitro tasting) Golden ale that has enough hops to make it interesting but not enough to scare off the craft neophyte. Pretty tasty patio beer that is on par with Saltsprings Golden ale ( one of my fave local examples of the style). Most BC brewers have a lager as a gateway beer but kudos to Townsite for producing a style not given the respect it deserves.
