Said the Ale pours a deep red copper with a nice head that doesn't linger. The aroma is a bit of dark fruit and some yeasty phenolic character, as well as a bit of herbal hops. There is a bit of estery sweetness upfront that quickly gives way to raisiny dark malt and sharp phenolics. Some herbal hops compliment the beer fairly well. It finishes dry with a slightly puckering astringency, hard to tell if it is hops or the phenolic character.
