Another thanks to Tommyguz for sharing this growler with me. Poured into a snifter, the brew looks black in color with a khaki head.
It smells of straight coffee and not much else with a lingering earthy roastiness that is mostly coffee driven but maybe there is dark grain essence too but it isnt distinct.
The taste is roasty and earthy coffee character that overlays most of the nuance the underlying brew tries to showcase. Not really a rich coffee character either, more of a fading but not quite to the point of being stale coffee either.
This is light in body with light carbonation. Initially very coffee forward with minimal beer feel. After getting to try 2 different brews from this company, I get a sort of homebrew vibe from it...not that its a bad thing, there just is lacking any pop to these brews to make them stand out. They are very average.
