On tap at Darwin's
Poured a beautiful deep amber red that is quite clean with a nicely formed white head. Trails of lace adorn the glass. The aroma is of a big, malty caramel and raisin backbone with heavy tones of smoke and peat, although the smokiness is not overbearing. A touch of herbs as well. The flavors are well melded. A mildly sweet forefront gives way to the heavier smoke, biscuit, and even a bit of toffee. The fruit notes are more subdued, but a slight tang comes towards the finish. Crisp carbonation and a medium body. Well done!

Arrives the darkest red I've ever seen. A minimum of light penetration lets you notice its clear, at least. Faint, dark tan head leaves no lace.
Smell is the weak spot here. Malty, sweet, spices. Good balance but weak.
Taste is near epic proportions. Malt, spices (black and spicy peppers), hops are present but supporting only. Great balance.
Nearly full bodied, light effervescence, warming from the start. Spicy peppers kick in mid-sip for another kind of warming. Fantabulous.
