This big-bodied milk stout has a prominent vanilla aroma with toasty undertones that lasts throughout the pint. Spiced with nutmeg, packing a festive punch in the finish. Black and opaque topped with a dark, long-lasting head. Best enjoyed on the darkest nights of the year paired with a warm fire and a homemade dessert.

Coal black with a medium head with lacing. Sweet vanilla and chocolate on the nose. Rich, smooth chocolate malts with both crispness and sweetness.

Bought from NB Liquor as a limited edition brew while vacationing in New Brunswick. A 473 ml can poured into a flute-like beer glass. Served at 5 degrees Celsius.
Look: Pours a jet-midnight black, opaque, drink with a little bit of dirty-brown head. It's blacker-than-black; astonishingly dark like oil. Some brown-creamy foam lacing sticks on the glass and looks nice.
Smell: Oak, vanilla, roastiness, coffee. toffee/molasses. Very mild and underwhelming, but nice.
Taste: Lots of roastiness, oak is present, a lot more subtle and smooth than the appearance might suggest. A sweetness is present, but not like candy sweetness -given the complex sugars rather than the simple ones. Leaves a mild oakey toasty aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: A milk-like creamy consistency almost like a glass of milk. Some mild-moderate carbonation gives it some body and variation.
Overall: I usually don't like dark beers, but I really liked this one. This is definitely my favorite dark beer to date. It has a nice roastiness and milk-like sweetness and consistency. No overwhelming sweetness, coffee or burnt flavors. Like a mildly coffee-flavored milk drink.
It isn't very complex but very straightforward, tasty, and medium heavy. It's a good drink that is well-made but lacks slightly in that it isn't very varied or complex. The sweetness overwhelms the drink. I would like to see a bit more bitter roastiness or boldness, but still delicious as heck for a mild stout.
Would be great with some Christmas deserts, molasses cookies, or the like. Easy to drink and probably easy to session as well, if the sweetness doesn't get you.
I highly recommend. I'll be buying another to bring back with me.
