A dark Irish ale with full body and flavor and a creamy head of foam from the added Maltodextrin. Dark malts and grains prove huge taste.

On tap. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with very little head. It smelled faintly of chocolate and roasted coffee. It tasted roasty with light chocolate notes and some caramel.

pours a clear, black color. 1/5 inch head of an off-tan color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, hint of oatmeal, and slight hops. Fits the style of an American Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Taste of sweet malt, oatmeal, hops, and slight roasted malt. Overall, decent aroma and body.

I had their taster tray of seven beers. All of them were so badly infected with Lacto that I couldn't drink more than a sip of any of them. All were thin and vinegary with no body and no malt or hop character at all. I have thrown out much better home brew. At least the colors were right.

Now named Chubby stout.

On tap at the Hermann beer festival - very nice beer pouring pure black, with the classic tan head.

Aroma was full of burnt toast and charcoal, and the quaff added a nice dose of coffee, molasses and doughy bread. Wee bit on the thin bodied side, almost normal for a stout. And the finish balanced out well with a sturdy hop kick.

A decent drinker, even in the hot weather, glad to have had the opportunity to sample the brew. This small brewery does a good job with their beer.

I tried this on tap over Oktoberfest weekend at the Bias Winery.

A - Dark body with an overall thin whitish head. Color on par with an average cola. Little to medium lacing at best.

S - Slight aroma of malt with traces of coffee and caramel.

T - Mild overall with hints of coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and a slight touch of butterscotch yielding to a light bitterness that remains only momentarily. Very clean overall.

M - Thin and smooth with a light carbonation that beckons you to imbibe more.

D - Suprisingly smooth, light, and quite drinkable.

Too bad they didn't offer any form of takehome. I'd have gotten at least one growlers' worth.
