La Croix de Lorraine was the symbol used by the French Resistance in WWII. La Croix (the Cross) - pronounced "la crwah" - was also a favorite fashion designer on Absolutely Fabulous.
A number of different grains were used in this beer, including wheat, flaked barley, rye, and oats. Its malt character is met with a big hop signature - summit for bittering, and centennial and crystal for the whirlpool and dry-hop additions. We harvested the Ardennes yeast from our Continuing Resolution, and it contributes a bubble-gum- like fruity ester character, to go along with the clove phenolic note. The hop character is a bit resiny, and the bitterness lingers in the finish.
