Our black IPA is bursting with crisp, clean bitterness and layers of wonderful American hop character. Pale Ale, Munich and Naked Golden Oats give a toasty malt backbone with a smooth mouthfeel. The dark ominous color comes from the Chocolate Malt and the de-husked highly roasted malt. We want the layers of hops to shine against this roasty malt backdrop. Warrior, Citra, Chinook, Centennial and Amarillo lend bitterness as well as a wonderful cornucopia of aromas and flavors of fresh citrus fruit, pine, fresh cut mint and fresh flowers they offer.

11/8/20 New Beer Sunday 819 review. Revolution Brewing Jukebox-Hero Black IPA (Home - Chicago, ILL)
Can notes: Filled 9/23/20 9:39:51, 7.5% ABV, "A Power Chord of Amped Up Hops" (75 IBU per online notes).
Online notes:
Jukebox Hero®, named after the well-known rock song, is a black IPA is bursting with crisp, clean bitterness and layers of wonderful American hop character.

ChicagoJ Notes:
Appearance: Dark brown black pour, light cream tan head lingers for a few minutes, leaving generous lacing in it's wake and a cover over the base. 4.0
Aroma: Mint and chocolate malt leads, light pine backs. Mild in strength. 3.75
Taste: Consistent with aroma, chocolate malt and sweet mint leads, very pleasant. Pine and citrus back well. Balanced, really love this offering, flavors really popping. 4.5
Mouthfeel: Medium creamy body, light fizzy carbonation holds throughout, slightly dry and bitter, though sweetness emerges on different sips. East clean finish, ABV consistent with impact. 4.0
Overall: This is a solid black IPA. If you are looking for a nice strong minty chocolate malt backed by assertive hops providing additional flavors in a balanced manner, this beer is for you. Popping with flavor, my only regret is I haven't ordered this before. I'll be back to cue Lou Gramm and a few pints of this one. 4.25

Dark amber brown-black. The scent is very appetizing dark malts with a zesty hopping. Tastes very bitter for the style, almost just a straight up IPA but with smoky charred malts. As it warms it loses its appeal

Pours out of the can a very dark brown, when held up to the light. A light finger high head that dissipates within a minute. Smells slightly roasty chocolate and coffee. Taste follows the nose well, including a faint bitterness like a cold brew coffee. Very complex and would try again.

This is a great, different IPA in a world with not enough malty variations. I was very pleasantly surprised with the balance of flavors, feel, and bitterness. This has becomes one of my go to evening brews.

In a world of typical IPA's, the world needs more IPA's like this one. A black IPA with the bold taste of malt combined with the sweetness of hops. Very good beer!

Very interesting version of a very dark (black) IPA (strength is almost a DIPA). Great balance of hop bitterness and aroma, paired with a malt foundation that makes this really enjoyable and satisfying.

12oz can stamped FILLED 09-16-2020 (1 month ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 7.5% ABV. The beer pours bright medium brown in color with ruby highlights and light brown head. The head recedes to fluffy cap and leaves behind a web of lacing. The aroma is pine, candied orange, caramel and grapefruit. The taste is bittersweet pine, coffee, roasted malt and citrus with a moderately bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good.

2014 vintage; drank 4/17/14 @ the Yarchives.
Brown/purple hue.
Tan head; thick lace.
Milk chocolate & mild orange citrus nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
A smooth milk chocolate open, followed by a mellow orange citrus finish.
Pleasant & easy to drink, but not very memorable.

Poured from 12oz can into glass. Stamped canning date is '10-24-2016'.
Dark brown body, mahogany highlights when presented to light, tan cap, and good sheeting of lacing.
Smell is a combination of dark roasted and pine/citrus.
Taste does include a hint of mint, along with the dark roast and floral, pine, and citrus hops.
Medium plus mouth feel.
Has held up well, with its age in the can. Has the balance for the beer style.
