Last summer, we aimed to create a mega pale ale with our friends from Big Star restaurant. Our result; Fist City, a crushable Chicago pale ale named after the Loretta Lynn tune. It is brewed with lots of 2 row and red wheat with a little specialty malt for a beautiful golden hue. A blend of Centennial, Citra, Chinook, Cascade and Crystal hops give the beer its flavor and aroma. This beer is meant to be a supremely drinkable brew for those who love hops. Magnificent California hop aromas play in perfect harmony with this brew’s extremely satisfying finish.

Bright gold color, nice white head. Not much for the nose to enjoy. Some citrus flavor and grains. Overall a solid Pale Ale.

Fist City pours a bronze color with a large, lacing head that won't quit. The aroma is a little weak but dry, with hints of citrus and vegetables. The flavor is dry, with a few citrus and vegetable notes, clean and crisp, on a bright cereal base. It's a very good feel. Overall, it is a very plain and simple pale ale that is perfectly crafted.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a 12 oz. beer glass. Smell is piney and citrus. Big head that disappears fairly quickly with lots of lacing all the way down the glass. The taste is a combination of pine and citrus with a slight bitter bite on the back end. Overall a very satisfying beer.

12-oz. can poured in pint glass.
Appearance: Light white head that fades steadily (second can had moderate head). Honey coloring. Clear. Moderate Carbonation.
Aroma: Yeasty. Maybe a hint of citrus.
Flavor: Quite bitter, quite full-bodied ale. The hoppiness is apparent. A rather herbal flavor. Malty. Not especially pleasant.

Just a solid, slightly above average pale ale. For the price, its something I pick up more than others.

Look - poured from a tall can into a tasting glass. Light golden hue, transparent, small head with good lacing retention.
Smell - pine resin and citrus, with some tropical fruit as well. bits of malts and sweetness also comes through. has some nice complexity.
Taste - delightfully balanced. a ton of hoppy flavor approaching that of an NE IPA, but not quite there. light bitterness, fruity, and some malts too. finishes long with waves of nice hoppy flavors towards the end.
Feel - light to medium bodied, high carbonation, and a fairly easy drinker at 5.5% ABV.
Overall - this is an excellent pale ale. Light in color, packed with good flavors and complexity and remains very drinkable.
