a cool pale ale here, i like the single hop stuff, especially with new hops i have never heard of before. this particular hop though, might not be so wonderful in isolation, although it is certainly distinct. it has a lemon floor cleaner intensity to it, a greasy slick feel, and a lingering oil feel that gets a bit much after about half a glass. not too bitter though, and a clean and easy drinking pale ale was the base beer, and it works well to showcase the unique properties of this experimental hop. it has that sharp almost vinegar feel to it, which is where i get the cleaner or polish descriptor from. it could be toned down a little bit. its polarizing. like some people dont like that lemony butter flavor of sorachi ace. this is equally weird and intense, but for my palate anyway, not as enjoyable. still light and crisp for what it is, and if the mission was to demonstrate what this new hops is capable of, it was a success for sure. i wonder if it will come into commercial prominence or not, i know the appetite for this stuff is huge right now...

The Riding High was a good beer. It poured a copper clear with white head that left some lacing. The scent and taste carried some pine and citrus notes. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall the beer was quite nice.

Pint at the taproom, Nov. 2015.
Orange with a good level of clarity and lasting meringue foam.
Pungent hop aroma, citrusy orange and fresh cut botanicals.
Taste is bitter with orange peel resins leading off and drying in the finish.
Clean, light and smooth, very drinkable and refreshing. Not sure what experimental hop was used, but I like it.
