Thanks to Thomas for this one! Served in a snifter at the tap room.
Almost appears black in the glass, but the edges are reddish brown in the light.
Served on nitro, it had an oddly frozen appearance as the foam cascaded to the top at a glacial pace. Creamy meringue tan foam settled to a compact surface layer, leaving a collar of lace around the edge.
Aroma was muted at first, as it warmed the coffee came through, with an oddly medicinal note that may have been the alcohol and coffee interacting. Taste was similar, something slightly odd in the background, with a strong cold press coffee intensity up front. The barrel nuances are all but obliterated. Creamy, rich and smooth feel, slightly less carbed than the regular SJ. Overall it was interesting to try but seemed like it could use some tweaking.
