Citra-Hero is amping up the intensity with a new concept suit fueled by the dynamic Type-45 Citra hop. Reduced plant matter triggers more essential hop oils, further accelerating her citrusy impact. Two rounds of dry hops unleash a staggering 5 pounds of Citra, Simcoe, and Kohatu per barrel, triggering an explosive amount of melon, berry, and tropical fruit flavors.

Drank the new (8%) dbl dry hopped citra hero (canned 12-16-21). Certainly not a bad beer. Was hoping for a little something along the lines of Solemn Oath's Solemn gardens where there's a floral hop sourness, which I think would be a tastier ode to the citra hop(s). This dbl IPA had great beer tones in terms of flavor, with a noticeable citrus nose that ultimately gave way to the more dominant "pleasant bitterness". Again, not bad, just wanted more citra. The original Citra-Hero is great! But they hardly release it. Seems like it should be a yearly thing. The last Citra-Hero that was released was "this time with Haze!" and was again, not as good as the original. Let's hope they get this right!

Rev's beers are great if you like the boozy. However, if you like more tongue tantalizing floral notes, you may want to look elsewhere. :)

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 fl oz can on August 6, 2019. Brewed with Citra, Motueka, Mosaic, Simcoe and Kohatu hops. Citrus, melon, berry, and tropical fruit flavors. Smooth, dry finish.

Never seen a black can before. Pretty cool. 12oz. into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303

Nose is grapefruit, tree resin, pine and brown sugar. Pretty bright though I'd like a little more grassiness here. Beer opens kind of bland actually. Notes of grapefruit, grass, pine and a waxy hop bitterness. Coarse brown sugar in the middle with some bark and a tea bitterness at the end. Solid overall but the flavors are just a bit muted here. Body is medium with moderate to carbonation. Prickly and filmy on the palate and goes down messy with an oily, lingering finish.

Per the description, I definitely don't get melon and tropical fruit. Instead, there's more grass, pine and tea bitterness. A decent IPA overall but not one I think I'd revisit.
