The combination of our powerful Imperial Oatmeal Stout and a year spent in special Woodford Reserve Master's Collection barrels. It’s smooth, deep, and complex.

The imperial stout and bourbon barrels have such an affinity for one another that it's become hard pressed to find a big stout on the market that doesn't have such barrel influence. So how to make a brand that stands out in a good way? We're going to have to ask Revolution Brewing, they seem to have figures some things out.
Their famed Deth's Tar takes a nice long slumber in bourbon barrels before pouring an ominously tawny black appearance. Short on froth and foam, the ales rich scent soon draws the senses with chocolate and char, coffee and cream, caramel and coconut to name a few of its dessert-like aromas. Sweet on the early palate, a richness of molasses, caramel and cream brings a toasted nuttiness to the forefront.
Nearly sherry-like but with bourbon proportions and properties, the stout saturates the middle palate with lavish and robust sweetness balanced with espresso, bittersweet chocolates, candied coconut, vanilla cream, caramel and a hint of campfire. Trending sweet and highly complex, a finish of whisky spice, Irish coffee a kiss of port wine show a slight but pleasant oxidation with a broad and woodsy bitterness.
Full and decadent from start to finish, this simple twelve ounce can is certainly a sharable as its richness in culinary rewards renders it a slow and sipping affair. A long linger of java and whisky spice trail into an off cloying session that's perfect for a nightcap or a dessert complement.

Boozy! Get the barrel on the front end and chocolate and a hint of caramel on the backend. Nice mouthfeel. Silky. Noticed as it warmed up, get more sweetness from the chocolate and more of the caramel flavors. One of my favorite series of beers.
