Brewery. Oates: Revolution Brewpub on August 14, 2020. (Chicago, ILL) Hero in Training Version 3, a $6 8% IPA pint.
Personal Notes: These are experimental offerings brewed as tryouts for Revolution’s Hero series. I liked version 1, was out West when version 2 was released, so here we are with version 3. Rating after the strong first pour, but will do my best here.
Appearance: Clear blond pour, light carbonation, bright white bubbly creamy head, leaves generous lacing. 4.0
Aroma: Nice balanced fruity aroma, peach, guava fruit, sweet but balanced. Attractive pour. 4.5
Taste: Very nice pour, dry and bitter leads, not noted in the aroma. Sweetness emerges with the peach and guava emerges, lemon lime, old school. This works very well. Wish I had this during last weeks’s West Coast IPA tasting, this may have trumped all of my pours. I really hope this becomes the next Hero release. 4.75
Mouthfeel: Dry and bitter, very pleasant. Sweet creamy caramel fights to balance, does well in its role. Light fizzy carbonation lingers throughout, easy clean finish. 4.25
Overall: This is a very good experimental pour, one that I hope transitions to a new Hero offering by a favorite brewery! How about it @BeerCruncher ! 4.50

Crowler filled 8/25/20; drank that evening.
Version 3 utilizes the experimental "HBC 586" hop from Hop Breeding Co. along with Centennial & Cryo Mosaic.
See-through orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice white head which quickly dissipated; decent lace.
Pine & guava notes in the nose; a bit harsh for me.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Graham cracker & pine flavors up front; lager yeast notes and some faint guava on the finish.
This was off-putting to me. It tasted like an IPL more than anything, and isn't one I'll return to.
