Revolution Brewing DDH West Coast-Hero 11/14/20 (Home: Chicago, ILL) - Can notes: 16 oz, 8.0% ABV, canned 10/27/20 @11:29:38, poured 11/14 into a Revolution shaker pint glass.

Online Brewer Notes: Catch good vibes and endless sunsets with a new crystal-clear DDH West Coast-style IPA. A camper van's worth of Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo, and Citra bring huge hop waves to a bright, refreshing pint.

Appearance: Clear golden tan pour, light carbonation, egg white bubbly head leaves generous lacing. 4.25

Aroma: Pine strong and pleasant, grapefruit citrus backs well, light malt sweetness detected. 4.0

Taste: Oh yeah, Revolution nailed the West Coast style, not a MWIPA with medium/heavy malt presence. Firm very dry pine hops are kicking ass, a most excellent hop blend. This tastes like you're knee deep in a pine forest. Citrus backs, light tropical notes as well but this is glorious pine all the way. Light sweet malt taste noted, but proper in strength for this style, letting the hops reign supreme. You nailed this Revolution!!! 4.75

Mouthfeel: Medium slightly creamy mouth feel. Very dry and bitter, most pleasant for my palate and consistent with the best in style. Faint carbonation, dry bitter aftertaste lingers. 4.5

Overall: Overall, this is an excellent Old School WCIPA, so glad Revolution came out with this offering. Bursting with pine flavor, backed well with complementary fruit flavors, malt stays in its lane, dry and bitter, very well crafted. Will definately pick up more and I really hope this becomes an annual release. 4.5

Clear dark gold with a finger-and-a-half of yellowed, foam head. Great retention. Spotty lacing.

Honey, mango, pineapple, black pepper, light weed and light pine in the nose.

A flash of skunky weed with light tropical fruit and iced tea up front in the taste. Moderate piney bitterness and a touch of cardboard in the finish.

Thick, syrupy feel for the style. Slow-building fizz.

A decent all-around brew.

12 oz. can pours a clear amber with modest white head but good lacing. Aroma has pine, graperfruit, lemon, and some sweet malts. Taste is bitter but not at all an assault on the tongue. Body is medium with average carbonation. Very good if not memorable.

Pours clear orange/amber with a thick white head. Legitimate lacing. Aroma is citrus fruit and a touch of pine. Flavor follows the nose, sweet up front with a hint of bitterness in back. Feel is medium bodied, a bit sticky with adequate carbonation. Overall, a very nice beer.

Pours a slightly unfiltered amber to orange color with a smaller, yet stable white head.

Brings orange peel, limes and a touch of caramel to the nose, together with a note of bright, flowery citrus zest atop.

Offers a medium body with a slightly lower carbonation to it, still offering a well working, slightly mineralic refreshment.

Brings a powerful, lime forward bitterness to the palate from first glance, gently complimented by ripe oranges, a note of resin and a drop of sweet honey. Its middle part is defined by smooth cream, white bread dough, subtle, flowery citrus and a maintaining, almost abrasive bitterness. Finishes sweet and vibrantly malty with more resin adding to the beer‘s malt backbone, while its lime hoppiness creates an intense, long lasting aftertaste.

A predictable, yet well brewed in-your-face West Coast IPA with a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel to it.

Surprisingly this is not one I grabbed while recently in Chicago, rather it came from Tavour. I did see a decent amount of it while I was there but decided to hold off knowing I had this one back home. This is somehow the first Anti-Hero variant, at least of ones I’ve reviewed. Let’s get into it

Pours a mostly clear orange gold with 3 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is a bit sweeter than I’d prefer for a WCIPA but it’s still enjoyable. I’m picking up on aromas of caramel malt, peppery hops, red grapefruit, orange zest, honey, dank weed, dark toast, and light toffee

Maybe it’s a function of its age but things unfortunately get even sweeter in taste. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting caramel malt, toffee, dark bread, red grapefruit, earthy hops, dank weed, and light grass. The swallow brings notes of orange zest, caramel malt, toffee, peppery hops, red grapefruit, toffee, and light weed

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky and sweet

Yeah, this one really isn’t great. Average at best but far too sweet for what it is. A rare “halfway decent” beer from Revolution
