After a quick eight months of resting, this single Buffalo Trace Mash #2 barrel may not be the oldest Deth's Tar we've ever tasted, but that's not why we love it. Notes of vanilla, bakers chocolate, and cherry positively leap from the glass as it warms, providing a subtly lean-balanced oak and spirit-forward sip.

Black body with a brown head that fades into a thin ring. Oak and bourbon lead the nose, molasses huge too, semi-sweet chocolate, raisin and slight vanilla round out. Tastes like bourbon with a baker's chocolate backing, huge oak, various dark fruits, vanillins, and leather all present. A very boozy yet not hot and smooth feel. Gets the most out of the barrel without getting off the rails. Prefer the orignal slightly more, but this is well worth a try!

Crowler filled 11/9/20; drank 11/11/20 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; minimal lace.

Sherry, dark chocolate, oak & bourbon notes in the nose.

Creamy, thick mouthfeel.

Bourbon, oak & dark chocolate flavors up front; marshmallow & mild booze heat notes on the finish.

A sturdy, robust take on Deth Star. I'd have another...
