Kegged February 2018; crowler filled 8/24/20 & drank 9/1/20 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big tan head; almost no lace.
Blackberry, mild boysenberry jam & faint chocolate notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Tart blackberry & boysenberry jam flavors up front; mild bourbon & faint chocolate notes on the finish. Booze heat emerged as this warmed.
Odd for a latter-day Revolution BA stout, this was too thin too really sustain the intense flavors. Interesting, but I'm ultimately glad they didn't choose it for the "official" Deep Woods series. Had they added heft to the mouthfeel, however, it might have been a stunner.
