The last two Weller Special Reserve casks of Double Barrel V.S.O.D. get the Suppermassive Café treatment with over ten pounds per barrel of freshly roasted Dark Matter cocoa-fermented coffee… just because.

Had on tap. Pitch black body with hints of brown with a tan ring. Huge coffee nose with earthy and dark chocolate tones, with bourbon accents, really covering up the beautiful BA stout underneath, but not bad by any means. Taste has some more nuance: oak, caramel, molasses, vanilla and light char, but coffee is clearly the king. I loved supermassive, but this seemed to have less depth and certainly less intentionality. Feel is roasty, boozy, chewy, yet smooth and not really that heavy.

Had this on draft 7/21/21 @ Revolution's Taproom.

Holy dark roast, Batman. Nuclear grade coffee notes in the aroma & flavor up front. As it warmed, some caramel & oak emerged, as well as hints of unagi sauce.

Over the top, but worth a try!

Pours a pitch black color. Completely opaque and shiny. Thin mocha colored head. Aroma has notes of coffee, and coffee and more coffee. Ok yea that’s what they were going for, but it’s at the expense of the barrel or underlying stout. If the aroma were a bell curve this would be on the downslope. The taste has notes of - you guessed it: coffee. At least here the barrel and underlying stout are allowed to come through a bit more. Vanilla, cream, oak, bourbon, old wood, it’s all there. Feel is spritzy, a tad on the thinner side for a 17%+ ABV stout, silky, dry.
