D.B.V.S.O.R. Lux Eighteener — Single Barrel
This extra-sweet component of Ryeway to Heaven spent eighteen months in a Jim Beam Distiller’s Masterpiece French oak PX Sherry cask before finishing in a Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon barrel for a final six months. The confluence of copious malt sugar and extended aging delivers the now-familiar maple punch we so love in our Ryewine, with a bold, balancing punch of booze and lumber.

Poured from crowler. Copper, carmel appearence. A bit of a "glug" on the pour. No head or lacing. Smell is big barrel and sweet maple. Taste is amazing. barrel and sweetness, but not cloying. Rich, tobacco, leather...awesome. Very thick mouthfeel. Best beer of the last year for me.

Crowler filled 12/1/22; drank 12/5/22 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque brown appearance.
An even pour yielded a minimal tan head; no lace.
Oak, leather, maple & sherry notes in the nose. Smells great!
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Maple, toffee, sherry & leather flavors; booze heat emerged as this warmed.
A big, tasty, boozy treat.

Dark black, thicc ryewine. Aroma is sweet, rich malts, maple, oak, bourbon and brown sugar. Taste is more of the same - sweet rich malts, rye spice, maple and brown sugar, Caramelized sugar and hot bourbon and oak. Delicious.
