This extra-sweet component of Ryeway to Heaven spent eighteen months in a Jim Beam Distiller’s Masterpiece French oak PX Sherry cask before finishing in a Laird’s Apple Brandy barrel for a final six months. Unabashedly malty-sweet with pronounced notes of maple, vanilla, baking spice, and apple, you’d think we put a whole bunch of Grandma’s pie in the mash. We didn’t.

Crowler filled 12/1/22; drank 12/11/22 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
An even pour yielded a noisy, minimal tan head which quickly dissipated; no lace.
Apple Brandy, oak, caramel, maple & leather notes in the nose. A lot going on here!
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Apple Brandy, caramel & oak flavors up front; maple & leather notes developed as this warmed, as did some proper booze heat.
Surprisingly NOT too sweet. An absolute treat.

Rich, decadent malts, sweet maple and toffee with apple brandy and oak coming through. A touch of spice and noticeable heat. Moderately sweet overall, but not overly so. Dry finish. Delicious sipper.
