Making a triumphant return after a years-long hiatus, this iteration of Mean Gene was aged in a young bourbon barrel for ten months, providing notes of burnt sugar, vanilla, coconut, and sizable boozy "umph" to our chocolatey friend Eugene.

2022 vintage; drank 1/19/23 @ Revolution's Taproom.
Black appearance.
Nice tan head; minimal lace.
Faint cream & earth notes in the nose...not much here, even at room temperature.
Medium thin mouthfeel...yikes!
Bourbon & oak up front; faint notes of cream & earth after it was room temperature.
The base beer is DOMINATED by the barrel. It's for the best that this isn't packaged anymore, and I hope they don't waste any barrels on it moving forward. If anything, an argument for the Deep Wood Series that replaced this stuff.
