Had on-tap a few times this last weekend while visiting Chicago. From notes on 11-13-2010:

A - Dark black with huge kahki head - 2 inches - that dies down to light foam ring around the edges with a light sworl of carbonation around the edges. Good lacing retention.

S - Sweet and bright butterscotch and nice notes of bourbon. Dark currants and bits of coco and chocolate. Vanilla and earthy barrel.

T - Bit heavy on the barrel but I really enjoy those flavors. Toffee, caramel and cream, wood and oak. Very nice and pleasant.

M - Velvet and creamy. Very smooth with a tingling bourbon barrel feeling.

D - Very enjoyable, especially for a barrel aged 8.5% I had two 10oz snifters before I had my fill...for that day (I did go back the next day and had two more.) Great brew!

On tap at the brew pub...A dark brown pour with a light tan head, good retention and great lacing...A very sweet aroma of all bourbon and vanilla, a touch to sweet for me. Stunningly similar to BCS, more than a few couldn't tell the difference between the two...The taste is way interesting as not surprisingly it is sweet, but not how you would think. The bourbon and vanilla are replaced by sweet and creamy milk chocolate, and the finish brings back the biting bourbon and vanilla. So complex, loving it...A wonderfully viscous lip smacker.

A super unique combination in taste and play off the aroma. Reminds me of an easy to drink aged BCS. You can tell he worked at GI. Drink this beer.
