Grab your togs and get paddling with an all-new Hero that's Kiwi in origin and packed with New Zealand's prized Riwaka hop. As bright and clear as Lake Taupō on a sunny day, Riwaka-Hero is chocka with sweet tropical fruit, lemon, passionfruit, and pink grapefruit notes from the namesake hop. Grab a mate and taste some southern hemisphere sunshine.

Pours crystal clear golden yellow with a white pillow of a head. Great retention and lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit and honey. Favor follows the nose, sweeter than I was expecting, tropical fruit and honey with only a hint of hop bitterness bite. Feel is medium bodied, a bit "sticky" and only lightly carbonated. Overall, very nice but slightly disappointing

Canned 5/10/24
I’ve only had one of the DDH Hero beers before, but it was easily one of my least favorite from Revolution. Not that it was bad by any means, but still. I’m thinking this one will be a little more fun than the West Coast variant at the very least. Let’s get into it
Pours a lightly cloudy yellow gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose isn’t nearly as bright as I was expecting, it’s more of a sweet bitterness if that makes sense. I’m picking up on aromas of orange marmalade, bready malt, sweet honey, pithy grapefruit, limezest, herbal hops, light black tea, and mango
It has more of a bite to it in taste which is much appreciated. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sweet orange, lime zest, passion fruit, mango, grassy hops, breafy malt, light honey, and pithy grapefruit. The swallow brings notes of orange marmalade, pithy grapefruit, black tea, herbal hops, bread crust, mango, passion fruit, light grass, and honey
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes neutral and balanced
This isn’t my favorite but it’s still pretty damn good, especially for a 3 month old IPA

Picked up while sifting through the endless waves of hazy ipas. Not quite a west coast hop bomb, but definitely a welcome change of pace.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of fresh citrus and pine. Tastes of pine and citrus hops with some earthy notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden with an amber tint; a two finger head forms and retains nicely leaving squiggles of lacing
Smell: White wine grape, lemon and passionfruit tones
Taste: White wine grape and passionfruit forward with a lemony edge building in the middle; moderate to high levels of pithy bitterness on the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with spritzy carbonation
Overall: A lot to like here including the can art
