A "not so small" beer brewed using the 2nd runnings of wort after collecting the super concentrated liquid to brew the Hugene Imperial Porter. Supremely drinkable, this brew is more like a true London-style porter, which was so dearly loved and and consumed for sustenance by all the men working hard in the London ports.

On tap at Revolution Brewery taproom. Served in an imperial pint glass.

Appearance is medium-lighter brown body, very light for a porter. One finger offwhite head with fair retention, no lacing. Smells of mild toasted malt, a bit of sweet tapioca, a bit of chocolate, not much espresso. A fairly watered down aroma. Flavour is similar to the nose, a bit of earthy toasted biscuit, a bit of chocolate. Not a whole lot else. Not bad, but not particularly interesting. Flavour is thinner bodied, not necessarily in a bad way given the gravity of this beer. Reasonably drinkable, good cabonation. Overall, a mild session porter that is what it is intended to be, nothing more, nothing less.

Dark brown. Fairly translucent. Served with a smallish light tan head, but there is excellent retention. Some light lacing. Aroma is full of roasted malts with nots of char, smoke and dark chocolate. Taste is similar. Lots of heavily roasted malts with lighter notes of char, dark chocolate, and burnt coffee. Of course, as a small beer, the flavors are a bit watery, but it's to be expected. Light medium body. Lower carbonation. Somewhat chalky. Bitterness is if the roasted malt variety.
A good beer. Hard to rate it against a "proper" Porter since it's really not, but very drinkable.

Taking into consideration that this is a small beer run off of Eugene, wasn't expecting the same level of aroma, taste, viscosity. With that in mind, this beer was much more than anticipated. Great flavor of roasted coffee and malt, slightly smoky and a touch of sourness at the end like other good English porters I've tried.

A very interesting, low ABV beer - menu said it was in the 3.X range. Really wish this would get canned - haven't seen anything like this not on tap.
