A follow-up foray into our most wine-focused variants to-date, O.P.B. Vol. II celebrates everything we love about big, dumb, Paso Robles wines, in a stout. Built from the same blend comprising our collaboration with Surly Brewing and Herman Story Wines, Sur Lie, this single barrel features a blend of lees from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. A cocktail of organic acids and French oak extracted from the lees over several months of bâtonnage (lees stirring) drive this stout squarely into beer/wine hybrid territory.

I had this on draft 1/25/26 @ Revolution's Taproom.
Murky brown/orange appearance.
No head; no lacing remained.
Waffle cone, orange peel, wood & mild caramel notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Dry orange peel & waffle cone flavors up front; dry wood & booze heat notes on the finish.
Unique, certainly, but this didn't quite land for me. An odd amalgam of flavors that I wouldn't go out of my way for.
