Home (Chicago, Illinois) - 5/17/26 Can Notes: Purchased a single 19.2 oz cans on a two for $6 deal ($3.35 each with tax) at Revolution Brewery on May 2, 2026. Canned 3/24/26 @ 1:56:00 PM. X Hero Tropical Surge IPA, Hazy Imperial India Pale Ale with natural flavors, 10.0% ABV. Revolution Beer LLC, 3340 N. Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
Appearance: Poured about 1/2 of the can into a shaker pint glass, yielding a golden yellow orange unfiltered slighly hazy base. bright white creamy generous head, sand faint carbonation after the pour. Clumpy lacing and cover remains after I begin. a nice near inch before slowly fading with additional refills. 4.25
Aroma: Pineapple, tangerine and citrus, fresh and popping. Mostly fruit but also SweeTart vibes. 4.0
Taste: Pineapple and citrus pair to lead, tangerine, and lemon back. Sweet, any hop bittering is mostly futile. Still troprical as advertised. 4.25
Mouthfeel: Drinks easier at first than the high 10.0% ABV, but this slowly creeps up on me as I continue, especially with the higher can volume. Medium sweet body, made for peeps who like sweet strong beers, carbonation sustained gentle, Pineapple wins gold, Citrus Silver through the finish. 4.
Overall: I'm enjoying this, though the final half might hit me harder. Sweet, pineapple and citrus. Not sure what is hop derived and what comes from "natural flavors". Somewhat of a fruit juice beer. Won't be a go to via can. but would consider a smaller draft pour in the future. 4.0

This is another rare miss from the Rev. Just like the original X Hero, this is another 10% bruiser that hits you in the dome with the subtlety of a semi. It's astringent and tastes artificial. But I get why they're doing it....Sadly in this segment (not that I play in it often), I'd actually opt for a Beer Hug or a Voodoo Ranger over the X Heroes
