This beer can probably be best described stylistically as a Special Bitter - a session beer for sure. We used 100% of a new U.S. hop variety called Sonnet, hence the "poetic" reference.

On-tap at Revolution. Served in a mug.
A - Filled to the brim so it's hard to get a feel for head volume or retention. The dime of white foam settles to a collar, mottled partial cap, and a few spots of lace. Transparent amber-brown body.
S - Biscuty malts, some toffee, fruity English yeast, some very mild butter, malted milk chocolate balls (i.e. Whoppers), and toasted grains. Hop presence is pretty faint, but vaguely grassy - not really getting a feel for what Sonnet hops are all about.
T - Taste is significantly less sweet, with more bread and grain character and less of the biscuit and caramel-type flavors that dominate the aroma. Not bad, but not as interesting or complex as it smells.
M - Medium body that is pleasantly hefty for the listed 4.3%. It's a tad watery, and the carbonation is a bit harsh for an English-style beer, but otherwise it's solid.
D - A solid session ale that's a change of pace from Workingman Mild. A solid, malty, low-ABV English ale - should appeal to loves of session ales, but not Revotion's most interesting or inspired effort. Easy enough to drink an entire mug though!

pours a medium amber/brown color with a small head (though it was filled to the top).

Served in a pint glass at Revolution 4/8/12. Thanks to HeatherAnn, pops, and Roman for the assist!
A: Served a lovely gold with snatches of light brown. Capped with one finger of bright white foam that quickly melted away, this left a small amount of lace to decorate the glass.
S: This one touches all the bases. Slightly sweet caramel, toasted grain, and delicate hoppiness.
T: Exactly as above.
M: Light on the tongue with a lingering spicy hoppiness that hangs around for ages.
O: An excellent session ESB. Hopefully they keep this on through the summer. If so, they'll sell a bunch of it.
