Tall Tales Brewing Co. was founded in 2011 in a small town on the Eastern shore of Maryland. It is our appreciation for exceptional beer that drives us to produce a quality selection of approachable styles. As an artisan brewery we are consistently releasing new and rotational beers in addition to our year round offerings. All of our beer is brewed and bottled (cans coming soon!) in our facility located on Maryland’s Rt. 50, the Ocean Gateway.
A large part of our commitment to quality is to provide our delicious beer in an ecologically responsible manner. To this end, we strive to use sustainable practices throughout all of our operations.
Respect for the culinary arts resonates in our beer and our food. All of our food is prepared using whole ingredients and fired with wood in our Italian ovens. The brewery is situated on 22 acres and is known for its lush landscape, outdoor bar and seating areas.

Charming homestead looking brewery remotely located, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, great food venue, and decent tap list which at the time I visited was oddly focused on guest beers.

Beautiful venue, killer patio, nice selection of beers, pizza ovens, good service. Good IPAs. 5 oz. Samplers available, pet friendly. Sits back in a quiet wooded area.

In seemingly the middle of nowhere out on Route 50. The building looks pretty new and the interior almost feels rather sterile and uninspired. It looks nice, but it doesn't feel all that warm and homey. The quality, service and selection are all good. The food was good too, but way overpriced from my point of view.

The wife and I were heading to Evolution, but on the way there on Route 50 we spotted a sign to Tall Tales and decided to check it out. It is literally right off the highway, on a strange, secluded location that looks more like a private suburban house than a brewery.
They have a damn good variety of house-made brews here, including Bonnie DIPA (3.0), Sasquatch Imperial Stout (3.75), Abominable White IPA (3.75), Excalibur IPA (3.0) and a Coffee Stout. Of their nine taps,I opted for the five-beer sample to get an idea of their offerings. I loved the imperial stout, and really nothing was bad here (and nothing was great either). Sure, you won’t die and go to heaven after a Tall Tales beer, but you won’t be disappointed.
On a Sunday evening when we visited, they were offering some food specials including a six-dollar cheese pizza and sixty-cent wings. Good beer food, but the six-dollar massive pretzel was a little stale.
A pleasant surprise!

Updated 3/15/19 from original 2014 visit.
Well thought out/laid out beautiful facility with accompanying outside areas and game space. Larger bar and plenty of seating. Bar/music performer area separate from areas for dining. Seating for casual conversation; table seating for food/meals; additional larger separate room for groups. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.
Plenty of draft choices. Nice wine choices; and some ciders.
Overall quality is very good. Service is very good...friendly; welcoming ... whether at bar; table dining; or at desk.
Menu features a nice spread of appetizers; small meals and artisanal cooking. Pizzas are likewise. Pricing was on mid to high range...ranged from expected for creative restaurant food to high eg @$2.00/ each wings. Our group of 5 tried at least a couple of selections across the menu, and found all very week prepared; delicious and presented fresh from the kitchen.
All in all Tall Tales is a fun and enjoyable visit with plenty to choose from be it food or drink.

The brewery itself hosts a large tasting area with about 7-8 tables with chairs, as well as a bar area you can sit at. They also have a lounge area on the other side of the room as well as an outdoor garden area (which we did not know about / check out.) We headed over to the tasting section and grabbed a table. We took a quick look at the menu to see that they offer wood oven pizza's, wings, salads, crab dip as well as some desserts. We had already eaten lunch, so we didn't order any actual food, however, we all really want to go back to eat. They didn't open until 3 o clock that day, so we knew we couldn't wait to eat there, with dinner reservations at 6:30. The good news is that the next day (I think) they expanded their hours and will now be open for lunch! The one thing we decided we needed to try, hungry or not, was the Dessert Pizza. I tell you what, it was amazing. It was their wood fired pizza crust, sweet cream cheese, peaches, blueberries and an agave syrup drizzle. Wow. As a group we decided that the crust was amazing and if that is the crust for all their pizzas, they are going to all taste great.
As we sat down there were a lot of people coming in and out and people enjoying the beer and conversation. The wait staff / bartenders / possible brewers were as friendly as can be, coming around talking to tables, answering questions and interacting. It made for a great atmosphere. Our specific waitress was very sociable and a ton of fun. The head chef even got in on the interaction and came out to ask us how the pizza was. It was actually the first one he made for the day, having never made this specific pizza before. It was really awesome to talk with him.
We ordered the sampler of beers and tried them all. They even had a guest tap from Shorebilly Brewing Company, which just opened it's doors in Ocean City. The beers were all pretty good, with Red Headed Step Child being the group's favorite. There was nothing overly great about the beers, they were all above average, well made and easy to drink but the atmosphere put this place over the top and that is something that will keep us coming back.
I did enjoy each of their beers and the dessert was awesome. I can't wait to stop in again try the different small batch beers they do, as well as eat off the menu. If you are ever heading East to Ocean City from Salisbury, do yourself a favor and check out Tall Tales.

I walked in, and there was live music playing. A kind of 90s cover band, pretty good. However, where we sat was kind of just in a corner. Desolate over there, the set up of the place is quite odd. I tried all the beers they had to offer. 2$ half pints, not a bad price. The stout and IPAs were pretty good, definitely nothing stellar. I think they had 5 different options for beer.
There weren't many more options for food either. A few different appetizers. We got the bruschetta, which was very good. Other than the appetizers, you can get pizza, or pizza. THey don't do much as far as food options, but what they do, they do great. It was some really good pizza. The cheese and crust were amazing.
Overall, for an area that is somewhat lacking in brewpubs, it's worth checking out.

The Salisbury area's most recent addittion to the craft beer scene. Just outside of town heading towards Ocean City, a stone's throw off of Rt 50.
Very nicely done inside with vaulted ceilings and a cascading waterfall inside the front door. High top tables and a small bar to the left and to the right a more relaxed lounge area.
Service was great with both the owner and a waitress checking on me. Selection was a notch above average with the focus being on a few different pale ales and red ales. All were definately solid beers, some hoppier then others. Enjoyed the Willamette red ale the best.
Had a flight of 5 tasters for 8 dollars. Not allowed to sell pints yet but was told they would "sell me all the tasters I wanted". Had another of the Willamette and called it a day.
They did have a cheese plate available but did not order one-was simply checking out the new digs.
Very nice spot. They said they hope to have a canning line in place in the future. Relaxing atmosphere and quite welcoming. Could see a few beers here and some good acoustic music for sure. Decent brews and am interested to try some of their other offerings. Best of luck to them.
EDIT-1/13/13
Stopped in yesterday to see how things were progressing. Nice crowd coming and going. They have now installed a wood fired oven and are offering crab dip, pizzas and wings. Their core 5 beers are now available and are only OK. I have had the Red Headed Step Child a few places and it resembles a fair homebrew to me. Their pumpkin is one of their better beers and the Sasquatch RIS was a real worthy effort. Other then that meh...
