nice brew, new school, high hop saturation, dont often love citra on its own, but a bold pale is a nice spot for it to be, and it works well in this, my first from henhouse in some time, a drinker, but on the edge of ipa intensity, even with the lower abv. hazy matte straw look about it, a creamy half inch of white head that hangs around, bubbly, mid bodied looking, nice draft find for me! aroma and flavor play the same game, recognizable citra yeah, but some fun complexity too from sativa nuggets to green melon and even like starfruit or something, not quite tangy but tight and green in a not hop burn sense. i pick up some hearty pale grain in this for sure, white wheat likely, some unmalted wheat perhaps, not quite to toasted, but not doughy either, supportive, a legitimate contributor to flavor, it sometimes isnt in these. nuances of vanilla extract, kiwi fruit, and more familiar meyer lemon and sprite soda, some back end bitterness came a little bit unexpectedly, and i didnt love either its warm up or its linger, less clean than i think i wanted, but not messy either, nothing really from the ferment, just pushing citra maybe a tad further than it loves in a pale like this, but good quality pale no doubt with an almost creaminess about it, lively feeling, some oils sustaining it, bolder than i thought it would be. is henhouse still hot stuff? i am out of the loop, but i was jazzed to see it on a tap list in reno in my travels!

The various hop "flavors" of Henhouse's Stoked pale ale series are some of the best pale ales around. This Citra version drinks like a hazy ipa, but with the benefit of a lower abv.

Ok - did it! Yes Raul did! All lush and creamy like the marshmallow man after a bong toke. Seriously. It was beautiful and dreamy like Salma Hayek sucking on a popsicle during the summer time. Slurped and savored, Raul enjoyed it.

First time I had this was at March Madness 2019 when Sheldon brought a can. Subsequent to that, like, the next month for the ipa festival, found it at Berkeley Bowl and bought a 4 or 6 pack, can't remember quantity specifics. Anyways, pours a hazy chicken broth like color with more yellow glow and a 1/3" white head. Aroma was all Citra citrus, nothing more, nothing less. They didn't skimp, smelled delicious.
Taste was really easy going, downright s-a-w-f-t "soft". Very low bitterness. Plenty of hoppy notes to it, still banging that all citra edge giving off citrus and tropical fruit. They really hopped the hell out of this like it was an ipa. I didn't get the hop burn that often plagues softer mega hoppy brews with low bitterness. Just a solid banger. From what I recall, the price point is slightly lower than some of the $4/5 dollar cans. It isn't going to reshape the way you think about single hop Citra pale ales, but it is going to hit that niche squarely and do everything right. Rad beer, check it out.

This pours a hazy white gold, turbid but not cloudy. There's an initial blast of citrusy aroma that fades. Tangy, almost tart, much more than bitter. I get a candy lollipop punch of citrus, that orange lemon combo, but it doesn't have anywhere to go on the finish. I'm not sure what to make of this brew.

Pours a hazy, blonde in color with a small foamy head atop. Not much lacing as you drink. Looks to be refreshing. Aroma is classic buttery HenHouse malts and a lot of floral, citrus hops with a hint of spice. Taste follows the nose quite well. Buttery malts up front quickly subsiding to a sour, citrus (lemon, lime, apricot, grapefruit rind). Finishes dry with a lingering citrus bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel; medium bodied with zesty carbonation and a lovely chewiness. Overall this is a very tasty and refreshing brew that comes off a lot more like a light IPA than an APA. Citrus is a lovely hop so this is a great showcase of it. As with all the HenHouse brews, there is an excellent malt profile for the hops to sit on. I think this is a little too acidic to be a fridge beer for me, but it is refreshing enough to be a gulper and complex enough to be a sipper. Cheers!
