never had a henhouse beer i havent liked, and this is an excellent example of a west coast style double ipa. on my recent trip out west, i was just craving good hoppy beer, and ordered a fair few ipa type without looking at style specifics or abvs, and i got myself into a bit of trouble. this beer, its crazy, it doesnt drink this strong at all, it drinks like a nice oily juicy ipa around 6 or 7% abv, and it went down fast enough to make me a little buzzy. there is some good malt weight to this, but its dry as they go, and the only real sweetness element here almost seems like hop hash, honey oil or something that gives it that faint sweetness with all the fruity aspects of the hops. fresh orange and pineapple come to mind with this one, freshness is on point, and it has a very clean finish for the style, not as bitter as most. i have been giving a fair chance to the east coast hazy stuff lately, and i have enjoyed some of it, but this is the kind of ipa i will come back to again and again, an instant classic for me. its all there!
