Calling this a Dark Mild Ale, "cola inspired" or not, is a grim joke. The list of ingredients is enlightening: citrus zest, cinnamon, star anise, nutmeg, coriander, and vanilla. The vanilla dominates the aroma, which alas, is not what I want to smell in beer. Then another sip and it's the star anise in the nose.
I have to say this is not actually horrible tasting, but it is so unlike beer I am finding the humor in it. The low alcohol keeps this from tasting like some kind of cocktail, which might be faintly amusing. But it's more sweetened dishwater with dissipating carbonation. From the 16 oz can dated 04/09/21.
