This was another beer that I picked up recently at a Whole Foods in San Francisco. Never had anything from HenHouse before as this appeared to be one in a series done by a decent number of other breweries and if this was any indication, the effort to make this was well worth it!
The appearance of this was a hazy, golden apple with a fair amount of light seeping in around the edges. Tons of thick head topped it off as it settled nicely, but there wasn't any lacing left behind in my glass once the foam subsided. Fleshy mango and papaya, jack and star fruit, and booze filled the nose as there were hints of spelt, wheat, lime pith, and sticky tropical fruit in the nose. Lightly carbonated, there was just enough booze in this to complement the three hops and well-rounded body as the aftertaste was quite dewy and full of wet, fresh pine forest.
No doubt that this tasted and felt stronger than it was in actuality as this came across as quite fresh and somewhat heavy-handed. Canned on 3/15 with 2013AB written above it, this was a fun beer that was relatively easy to enjoy and improved as it warmed up. The native-themed label was the icing on the cake, as this had me wanting to seek more from HenHouse the next time I get out to the left coast!
