i really didnt care much for this one. an overly sweet beer that has warm fementation written all over it. the esters of the belgian yeast are over the top, the booze is tremendously strong, and the sweetness left over in this beer suggests a fundamental misunderstanding of basic brewing science, because why shoot for something honey sweet? its undrinkable in high quantities but there are some features i like. its a little still, which usually i dislike, but in such a blonde beer, it makes it almost feel like a blonde balreywine, which works in its own way. i also like the weight to color proportionality. very few beers this pale get this big. thats cool too, but thats about the extent of it. its way too boozy to be appealing for more than a couple sips, and maybe wasnt the best introduction i could have had to this brewery, which is populated by some really nice folks.

Personally not a huge fan of Belgians, but i happen to be a huge fan of Golden Ales and these guy's are local so i had to try. This was the first beer i had from these guys at their release party at Taps in Petaluma, CA back in 2011. It's definitely on the stronger side, coming in at around 11.2% i believe. I honestly loved everything about the beer, looked amazing, smelled great and tasted even better. Their Saison is killer too. Good stuff.

B+
22oz into a tulip. Pours a fully hazed yellow Tang apricot skin,
tiny pure white head required encouragement, lasted briefly, minor lacing.
Aroma is big and expressive. Lights skinned sweet fruits and citrus. Slight pepper, no alcohol.
Flavor too is big. Initial sip included an alcohol warmth down me gullet. Sweet and fruity, mango and papaya appears in the finish. Phenols sit in for bitter. No doubt you're drinking a big brew. The level of alcohol as a flavor component is entirely appropriate. Dry sharp twang as the flavor turns to aftertaste. Thin to medium bodied. very nice
cheers
