Served in a flared pokal at the brewpub.
Beginning my first visit to this place with the house wit. It pours a lightly hazy straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose transitions from an initial blast of mandarin orange and tart lemon zest to more of a spice mixture of coriander and clove amidst a sea of lightly funky wheat. Throughout, some light toasted oats float in the background. The taste focuses on the toasted oats, with some very light orange peel, some light coriander, and some light clove following in the dust. No real Belgian character is in sight here. The body is a hefty-ish light, with a very light moderate carbonation and a lightly velvety feel. Overall, an okay wit at best, one that feels the hurt from the lack of any real Belgian-like yeasty character.
