a really nice lager here, full flavored and quite a bit more robust than a standard yellow beer type, not that its hoppy per se, just that it seems to have more to it, more body and substance, more grain flavor, very pleasant drinker, not a mindless crusher, technically one of their best we had too, beautifully constructed and refined. the pour is a shade deeper than most, a deeper golden to brassy, not light yellow, pretty good clarity, a lasting white head from the tap, and lots of racing carbonation. it smells lightly nutty, still dry but with a little more to the barley malt, baked to toasted without quite taking on that hearty warmth, this is still snappy and refreshing in the nose, the lager yeast familiar and apparent, and the hops mostly bittering and mild, some minerality to it, faint honey, very fresh. the flavor is delicious too, that helles type middle sweetness from the grain, clean and dry later, cheerio cereal character, not super german to me, either from malt or yeast, a little more neutral on both fronts, but cohesive and delicious anyway, balancing hops come on only late. very resolved in the finish, minimal in a way thats unexpected earlier in a full character brew. awesome carbonation, i could drink this indefinitely, and its got enough to it to be an all season brew not just a warm weather thing. very good everyday lager here.
