A 500ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2012. Picked up a while back from Great Grog in Edinburgh. The label describes it as possessing fruity hop aromas resulting from the use of four hop varieties.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. An orange-amber hue with faint haze and good carbonation. Yields a large head of white foam that hangs around for a couple of minutes before reducing to a thin surface layer. Aroma of grainy caramel malt with notes of earthy yeast, stewed hops and indistinct fruity hints.
Tastes of caramel malt with a bitter finish. Notes of fruity aromatic hops, faint tropical fruit, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Mildly spicy, with a slight harsh flavour in the background. A dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry, spicy and tingly. Good carbonation and nice body. Rather astringent, with an aftertaste of bitter stewed hops and a hint of cardboard.
OK, though not amazing. I suspect that it's a bit old and the hop aromas have faded. Decent malt presence and good bitterness, but the aromatic notes are lacking. I'll have to re-review if I get another one. A decent brew that is worth sampling.
