A friend visited the Starkey's Lookout as part of a finger lakes birthday excursion. He brought back a growler of G.C. Starkey beer's new winter porter and I was fortunate enough to be with him when he first opened it. This is my first review, I am a fairly new beer advocate and usually don't review but I wanted to get this one up on the site.
A - Dark Brown with about a one inch cream head.
S - Smells like a typical porter with the chocolate scent. But there's something else as well, something sweeter.
T - Chocolate malts with what seems to be a caramel taste swirled in their as well. Not the biggest fan of porters but this taste profile works well for me.
M - On the lighter side. This beer is tasty but it isn't a big beer. My guess would be that the abv is around 5 but I cannot confirm.
Overall - Again I'm new to reviewing beers but I really enjoyed the caramel taste on this one. Not a cloying sweetness like say Southern Tier Pumking but a nice subtle presence to go along with the chocolate of a porter. Of the porters I've tried this winter I'd rank this one ahead of old leg humper but below anchor porter. Would definitely drink again if given the opportunity.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
