This was the first beer I had in Marquette, Michigan. Was in town for the reunion at Marquette University in Milwaukee, did some house shopping around Lake Winnebago, figured let's just run it north.
Pours a darker color than I expected for a kolsch, much less one coming in below 4% abv. More of a copper than yellow color. Didn't hold much of a head. Kolsch yeast and light floral hop angle to the aroma. I'm not here to entertain you, I'm here to meet my friend the Russian. . .
The taste and mouthfeel continued with the heavier than expected for a low abv kolsch. The color wasn't met with the same heft or viscosity, but it definitely was not on the light crispy edge like an ideal kolsch. Was more akin to like a biere de garde blended with an esb at times. Bready. Light bitterness. It was good enough at around noon on a mild day.
I am kind of surprised that about 8 months later I'm both adding this beer to this Next Glass owned database and reviewing it. Hopefully traffic picks up with some kind of shake up for the betterment of the Next Glass owned portfolio. Respect Next Glass!
